Nurse Aide Testing

 Successful completion of both the State of Iowa written and skills test allows you to work in several health care facilities as a Certified Nurse Aide.

Course Description:

The state nurse aide written test is taken at Western Iowa Tech Community College in the testing center on a computer. You will have three attempts to pass the test before you are required to retake the nurse aide class.

The state nurse aide skills test is taken at Western Iowa Tech Community College. You will be required to perform up to eight skills in any given skills scenario. You will have three attempts to pass the skills test before you are required to retake a nurse aide class.

Important Information:

•          Testing begins at 8 a.m. on the day of your scheduled test.

•          Please allow for six hours of testing, as both tests will be held on the same day.

•          Wear scrubs or clothing suitable for work in a nursing home.

•          Bring your driver’s license, state ID, or passport. The name submitted to the state must match the name on the ID, so if it is different (hyphenated, etc.), please let us know as soon as possible.

•          Bring a watch with a second hand (smart watches are not allowed).
